Studio 1Q is a Manhattan based design and animation shop.
We are kind of like an old samurai master, quietly kicking butt when nobody is looking. No we don't promote ourselves heavily (though we probably should.) Yes, we have extensive 2D, 3D & VFX skill sets and experience. Indeed, when properly challenged we can spring into action like a coiled cobra-- to unleash an inspiring barrage of sheer aesthetic mumbo-jumbo. But really we prefer to spend our time admiring the perfection of the shadows that the moths cast on the walls of our hut.
Previously we called ourselves PIXAN Design. Pixan was the freelance design shop of Jonah B Tobias, and was propelled to notoriety due to the work Jonah made for the Oscar nominated film Super Size Me. Years later, with several other high-profile projects to our name, we have expanded to utilize the services of other talented freelancers, and we have begun to take on larger and more complex projects. Hence our new name, Studio 1Q.
When asked what 1Q means or stands for as a name we really have no great reply. Despite the temptation to write a sarcastic or silly explanation for our name, let us say we chose it for the following reasons: we like how it sounds, it seems like it should mean something but doesn't, and most importantly the fact that "1" and "Q" are right next to each other on the keyboard. This saves our clients valuable typing time. Efficiency is what we are all about here at 1Q. You won't find a single wasted word or sentence or letter when dealing with us. Ever.
So now you see that 1Q really is the only appropriate name for a digital animation and design company.
